The assessment is based on four criteria: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
The Level Achieved is based two levels of Vietnamese language teaching program (Vietnamese as Second Language):
Beginning (Basic) - Level 1-4. At this level the student is able to read Vietnamese by “spelling” method, know the accent marks, speak Vietnamese proficiently, and understand the Vietnamese ethnic culture and practice traditional good behaviors as Vietnamese descendants. This basic level would generally take a student a minimum of four years to successfully complete.
Intermediate – Level 5-6. At this level the student is able to do reading comprehension from improving reading and speaking skills; acknowledge in grammar and sentence structure for writing; ethnically roleplay in traditional morality and values, culture and heritage, Vietnamese history, country, and the people, including famous figures and heroes, introducing some Vietnamese legends or historical stories. This intermediate level would generally take student a minimum of six years to successfully complete.
